Privacy Policy
Version: 3.0
Effective date: August 7, 2026
Koubo Prompter is provided and operated by Peng Xixu (彭惜徐, the "Operator," "we," or "us"). We respect your personal information and privacy. This Policy applies to the iOS, Android, and WeChat Mini Program versions and to the mainland China and global service regions. It explains how we process personal information for accounts, online configuration, caption generation, real-time voice follow, membership subscriptions, feedback, Wi-Fi remote control, rewarded advertising on supported platforms, and related features.
1. Important Information
1.1 Standard teleprompting, local script editing, and local drafts do not require an account. When voice follow is not enabled, standard teleprompting does not send microphone audio to a speech-recognition service.
1.2 Scripts and drafts are currently stored primarily on your device. Registering, signing in, or signing out does not automatically upload local drafts.
1.3 Camera, microphone, and photo-library content is processed only when you actively use the corresponding feature. If you actively generate captions, the App temporarily extracts audio from the video on your device and sends only that audio directly to Tencent Cloud for recognition; the complete video is not uploaded. Real-time microphone audio is sent only after you actively start Voice Follow. Granting system permission alone does not start transmission.
1.4 The current iOS App does not request or display commercial advertising. Its advertising feature flag is disabled, and the App does not initialize the Umeng advertising SDK. If Android or the WeChat Mini Program actually offers rewarded advertising, that feature is optional. Declining advertising does not affect basic features such as standard teleprompting.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Basic Teleprompting and Local Storage
Data: scripts you enter, draft titles or text, pinned and formatting status, and local settings such as font size, speed, theme, and language.
Purpose and method: editing, autosave, and teleprompter display on your device.
Storage: primarily on your device and not automatically uploaded to our server when you register, sign in, or sign out.
2.2 Accounts and Sign-in
(a) App registration and sign-in: username, password stored in encrypted form, nickname, and any phone number or avatar text you actively provide.
(b) WeChat Mini Program sign-in: the temporary WeChat login credential and OpenID and UnionID, if available, returned by WeChat. If you authorize or provide them, we also process your nickname, avatar, and phone number.
(c) Purposes: creating and identifying an account, maintaining sign-in, protecting account security, displaying profile information, associating membership benefits, and supporting account deletion.
(d) Registration is not required for standard teleprompting. You may use account-free basic features without providing this information.
2.3 Usage Allowances and Device Identifier
Data: a random identifier generated by the App, platform and service-region type, feature type (camera, floating teleprompting, caption recognition, or Voice Follow), seconds used that day, recognition queue status, and rewarded-ad view count and reward status on supported platforms. Network requests may generate necessary security logs such as IP address, request time, and response status.
Purposes: calculating free allowances, managing speech-recognition capacity and queues, preventing API abuse, troubleshooting, service security, and issuing and preventing duplicate ad rewards on supported platforms.
Note: the random identifier is generated by the App and is not an IMEI, government identification number, or phone number.
2.4 Feedback
Data: the feedback text you submit, optional contact details, platform type, optional device information, and, when signed in, a snapshot of an account nickname or phone number.
Purposes: identifying and resolving the reported issue, contacting you, and improving the services.
Do not submit unrelated identification documents, financial account details, precise location, or another person's private information in feedback.
2.5 Wi-Fi Remote Control
Data: remote room code, receiver or controller role, random client identifier, connection status, and scrolling control commands.
Purpose: relaying commands through WebSocket so that another device can control scrolling, speed, font size, and similar actions.
Current handling: room connections are held temporarily in service memory and removed after both sides disconnect. Service logs may record a room code and command name for troubleshooting. The current remote protocol does not transmit script text.
2.6 Caption Generation
When an iOS user in the mainland China service region actively selects "Generate Captioned Video," the App temporarily extracts an m4a audio file from the newly recorded video on the device and uploads that audio directly from the device to Tencent Cloud Speech Recognition. After Tencent Cloud returns recognized text and timing information, the App matches it against your script and generates the captioned video on the device. The complete video, script text, and generated video are not uploaded to our application server or Tencent Cloud Speech Recognition for this purpose. Our application server processes only the random device identifier, sign-in status, recognition queue record, and temporary signature, and does not receive the audio. Temporary audio is deleted from the App cache after recognition completes, fails, or is cancelled. This cloud caption-recognition feature is currently unavailable in the global service region.
2.7 Rewarded Advertising
The current iOS App does not initialize the Umeng advertising SDK and does not use it to request advertising or transmit advertising data. If Android or the WeChat Mini Program actually offers rewarded advertising and you actively select it, the relevant advertising service may process device model, operating system, IP address, network status, screen parameters, app information, an advertising identifier or Android ID, and ad impression, click, and completion events. The exact scope depends on the actual integration, provider rules, and your device settings.
2.8 iOS Membership Subscriptions
When you view a product, purchase, renew, cancel, or restore a membership subscription, Apple processes your Apple Account, storefront, payment, and order information. We receive and store the product identifier, transaction identifier, original transaction identifier, purchase and refund status, subscription expiry, and necessary server notifications to verify transactions, activate or stop benefits, prevent fraud, and restore purchases. We do not receive your full bank card number or Apple Account password.
2.9 Real-time Voice Follow
When you actively select and start Voice Follow on the standard iOS teleprompter page, the App captures live microphone audio and sends it directly to Tencent Cloud Speech Recognition. The returned text is temporarily matched against the script on your device to control scrolling. This feature does not create or store an audio recording in the App, and our application server does not receive the audio content. Tencent Cloud processes the audio and recognition request under its service rules. Microphone capture and the real-time connection stop when you pause, leave the teleprompter page, or move the App to the background. You may leave this feature disabled and continue using fixed-speed teleprompting.
3. Device Permissions
3.1 Camera: camera teleprompting and video recording, requested only when you actively enter the relevant feature.
3.2 Microphone: capturing audio for a video you choose to record or providing real-time voice follow when you actively start it.
3.3 Photo library or media storage: saving a video you choose to record or generate with captions. On iOS, only the permission needed to add to the library is requested.
3.4 Android overlay: displaying your selected script above another app.
3.5 Android foreground service: maintaining floating teleprompting that you start and displaying the continuing notification required by Android.
3.6 Network: receiving server configuration, account sign-in, usage allowances, caption or real-time speech recognition, membership transaction verification, feedback, Wi-Fi remote control, and advertising requests on supported platforms.
You may refuse or later disable camera, microphone, photo-library, or overlay permission in system settings. Doing so affects only the corresponding feature. Fixed-speed standard teleprompting and local editing do not require microphone permission.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Umeng SDK
Providers: Umeng Tongxin (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Ruixun Lingtong Technology Co., Ltd.
Purpose: requesting, displaying, verifying, and preventing fraud for an ad that you actively select on Android or another platform where rewarded advertising is actually enabled. The current iOS App does not initialize or use this SDK.
Possible data: device and network information, an advertising identifier or Android ID, IP address, app information, and ad interaction records, depending on the actual system and SDK configuration.
Privacy policy: https://www.umeng.com/page/policy/
4.2 WeChat Open Platform
Provider: Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Company Limited.
Purpose: operation of the WeChat Mini Program, WeChat sign-in, and obtaining a nickname, avatar, or phone number when you actively authorize it.
Rules: the User Privacy Protection Guidelines shown in the Mini Program and the applicable WeChat platform rules.
4.3 Apple
Provider: Apple and its affiliates.
Purpose: App distribution, system permissions, and membership product display, payment, auto-renewal, refunds, transaction verification, and purchase restoration.
Rules: the privacy policy and service terms that Apple provides to you.
4.4 Tencent Cloud Speech Recognition
Provider: Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd.
Purpose: processing audio temporarily extracted from a video and returning text and timing information when you actively generate captions, and processing live microphone audio when you actively start Voice Follow.
Possible data: temporarily extracted audio or live microphone audio, speech-recognition results, a random task identifier, IP address, and necessary request logs. The complete video is not sent to Tencent Cloud, and our application server does not receive audio content.
Privacy rules: https://cloud.tencent.com/document/product/1093/73072
4.5 Tencent Cloud Hong Kong Region Infrastructure
Infrastructure provider: Tencent Cloud.
Service region: Hong Kong SAR, China (region code: ap-hongkong).
Purpose: hosting the global service region's application servers, databases, server configuration, and necessary operational logs, and providing account, membership transaction verification, usage allowance, feedback, and Wi-Fi remote services to global users.
Possible data: account information actively submitted or necessary for global service operation, random device identifier, membership product and transaction-verification information, usage allowance data, feedback, remote-connection information, IP address, and necessary security logs. Tencent Cloud hosts this data as an infrastructure provider under our configuration. It does not receive complete videos, caption-recognition audio, or real-time Voice Follow audio for the global service, because those cloud speech features are currently unavailable there.
These third parties independently process the relevant information under their rules. We assess the necessity of actual integrations and require reasonable security measures. If a third-party service or its processing scope materially changes, we will update this Policy and obtain consent again when required by law.
5. Sharing, Transfer, and Public Disclosure
5.1 Except for the third-party features described in this Policy, with your separate consent, or as otherwise permitted by law, we do not provide your personal information to another company or person and do not sell it.
5.2 If personal information must be transferred because of a merger, division, asset transfer, or similar transaction, we will identify the recipient and require it to remain bound by this Policy. If the purpose or method changes, consent will be obtained again as required by law.
5.3 We publicly disclose personal information only with your separate consent or where law expressly permits or requires it.
6. Retention and Location
6.1 We retain personal information only for the shortest period needed for the purposes in this Policy. Account data is kept while the account exists. After account deletion, associated server data is deleted or anonymized, except for records required by law or reasonably necessary for dispute resolution or security.
6.2 You control retention of local scripts, drafts, audio, and videos. You may delete them in the App or system photo library. Uninstalling the App or clearing app data may also delete local content.
6.3 Temporary audio used for caption generation is deleted from the App cache after recognition completes, fails, or is cancelled. Tencent Cloud retains audio, recognition results, and logs under its service rules and our service configuration. Feedback, transaction-verification records, and security logs are retained only as needed for issue resolution, order performance, security audits, and applicable legal periods, and are then deleted or anonymized.
6.4 The App assigns a service region based on the App Store storefront. The mainland China storefront uses the mainland China service, where Operator-controlled server data such as accounts, configuration, and logs is generally stored in mainland China. Other storefronts use the global service, where Operator-controlled server data—including global accounts, membership transaction verification, configuration, and logs—is stored and processed in the Tencent Cloud Hong Kong region (ap-hongkong). Tencent Cloud caption recognition and real-time Voice Follow are currently unavailable in the global region, so audio is not transferred to mainland China for those features.
6.5 If you use the App across regions, change your App Store storefront, or contact us about a cross-region issue, necessary account, transaction, or support information may be transferred between mainland China and Hong Kong SAR, China. We limit the transfer to what is necessary for the service and apply notices, consent, contractual measures, and security safeguards required by applicable law. For the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction that requires a transfer safeguard, we will use Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally recognized mechanism where required. We will update this Policy and provide legally required notice before a material change to server location or cross-border processing.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS transmission, encrypted password storage, access controls, separation of privileges, log auditing, and backups. No internet service is absolutely secure. If a personal information security incident may affect your rights, we will take remedial action and provide the notices required by law, including the nature and possible impact of the incident, measures taken, and precautions you can take.
8. Your Rights
8.1 You may view and change profile information such as nickname and avatar and may request account deletion in the account center.
8.2 You may withdraw camera, microphone, photo-library, or overlay permissions in system settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing lawfully carried out on the basis of consent before withdrawal.
8.3 You may delete local drafts, audio, and videos and clear local settings and cache.
8.4 To request access, a copy, correction, completion, or deletion of personal information we hold, withdraw consent, request an explanation of processing rules, or dispute an account deletion result, email 120040718@qq.com. To protect your information, we may first verify your identity and will respond within the period required by law.
8.5 If we refuse a reasonable request, we will explain the reason. You may complain or report to the authority responsible for personal information protection or bring a claim before a court with lawful jurisdiction.
8.6 Where laws outside mainland China apply, we process account, membership, and necessary configuration data to perform our service contract with you; system permissions, cloud speech recognition, and optional advertising based on your consent; necessary logs based on legitimate interests in security, fraud prevention, and service reliability; and legally required records to comply with legal obligations. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing lawfully performed before withdrawal.
8.7 Where available under your local law, you may also request restriction, object to processing, receive a portable copy, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Submit a request through the email in this Policy. We will not discriminate against you for lawfully exercising a privacy right.
9. Minors
The App is not specifically directed to children under 14. Minors should use it under a guardian's guidance. If we discover that we processed personal information of a child under 14 without guardian consent, we will promptly delete it or take other measures required by law. Guardians may contact us at the email in this Policy.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy because of changes to features, third-party SDKs, law, or regulatory requirements. Ordinary updates will identify the version and effective date. Material changes to purposes, methods, data categories, recipients, or your rights will be notified prominently, such as through an in-app notice, and consent will be obtained again when required by law. Updates will not have unreasonable retroactive effect.
